Call (718) 425-3504 for questions. At its peak between 1880 and 1910, Sailors’ Snug Harbor was self-sustaining, producing fresh vegetables through its working farm. One hundred years later, Snug Harbor is trying to accomplish a  similar task, but with a focus on education. Snug Harbor’s Heritage Farm was established to help feed, inspire, and educate the local community. The Heritage Farm is Snug Harbor’s most recent agricultural endeavor. As the name implies, Snug Harbor’s Heritage Farm is cared for in an environmentally sustainable manner so that it will claim permanence on Staten Island and continue to produce fresh fruits and vegetables for years to come.  Currently, Heritage Farm is dramatically  changing perspectives, increasing awareness about the importance of eating locally, and improving the quality of life for those who live in, work in, or visit the New York City area.
