Night Owl: 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. (July), ends at dusk (August – September)

Registration Process

Registration for the summer 2017 lap swim program will take place online. Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12. If you do not have access to a computer to register or do not know how to navigate the website to complete the registration, you may visit the lap swim pool site and complete a paper registration form during lap swim program hours. Paper registration forms filled out at the pool must be completed prior to swimming in the program. There may be a waiting period for participants visiting the pool to fill out the paper registration form. To avoid waiting we ask that you register online.

All online participants are required to present their registration confirmation form to the aquatic specialist working at the pool during their first visit. Applicants can choose to print the confirmation email out or simply show the email on their phone to the aquatic specialist.

A season admission card will be issued to applicants on the first day that they participate in the program. All participants must check their admission card at the pool entrance each day. If the card is lost or stolen, a replacement card will be issued. All swimmers must have a card to gain admission to the program. There is no charge.

Program Details

Procedure

  1. Sign in and choose a slow, intermediate, or fast lane according to your ability.
  2. If you would like to keep track of the distance you swim a lap count watch will be issued to you. If a lap count watch is not available, laps may be counted by a staff member or each swimmer.
  3. When leaving the pool, you should inform the on-site aquatic specialist of the number of lengths logged for the day as well as your Administration Number. A length is the distance from one end of the pool to the other. The results will be recorded daily by the aquatic specialist on a 5″ x 8″ card. If you would like to check your daily or weekly progress, please ask the aquatic specialist for your 5″ x 8″ card.
  4. To ensure fairness in the competition for trophies and t-shirts, we will sometimes count Swimmers’ laps throughout the summer.

Awards

First, second, and third place awards will be presented to men and women who have completed the most lengths beginning Wednesday, July 5 through Saturday, August 5. Also, t-shirts will be awarded to those who accumulate 25 miles or more by Friday, September 1 for either the Early Bird or Night Owl Programs. Early Bird and Night Owl mileages may not be combined. If you are interested in being eligible for an award, make sure to check the box on the online registration form and speak to the aquatic specialist on the first day of lap swim.

Contact

If you have any questions regarding the program such as which lane is best based on your ability, or the direction you should be swimming, please speak with the aquatic specialist. For more information, please call (718) 760-6969, extension 0.
