New York City —NYC Parks’ Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in New York City will host the 2019 and 2020 USATF Indoor Championships, USATF announced Wednesday.

Opened in 2015, the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex is a 135,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art indoor track and field facility in Ocean Breeze Park, Staten Island. The $112-million athletic complex recently served as host to the highly successful 2017 and 2018 USATF Hershey Youth Indoor Championships.

“I am proud to welcome world-class track and field athletes from across the country to New York City for the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “The City is committed to producing an unforgettable event for all who travel to Staten Island for this elite competition.”

“Ocean Breeze is a world-class facility – and that’s why we’re thrilled to host USATF’s Indoor Championship, which will bring world-class runners to compete in Staten Island,” said NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP. “As a runner myself, I’m looking forward to the excitement and inspiration these athletes will bring to Ocean Breeze.”

 

The concluding indoor event of the nationally televised USATF Championship Series, The USATF Indoor Championships are a three-day competition featuring the country’s best track & field athletes. Running events from 60 to 3,000 meters, all field events, and the 3,000m race walks are contested each year.  The 2020 championships will serve as Team USATF selection for the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China.
