Special Yoga Class with Melissa Ruiz, Sunday, September 15, at 12 PM.Melissa Ruiz is inspired by health and wellness. She grew up playing sports and was formerly a WNBA cheerleader. She studied yoga under the guidance of Marina De Lima and Anayra Calderon, graduating from Yoga In the World RYS. Her training is Hatha, Ashtanga and Vinyasa based. Melissa is an athletic enthusiast so expect a powerful flow with lots of core work. Melissa is obsessed with her Shiba Inu named King and in her spare time is training for the NYC marathon. She is devoted to helping her students reach their highest potential and mission is to uplift and empower all beings around her. Click here for tickets!

An Introduction to Tibetan Medicine with Dr. Jetsun Chime, Sunday, September 15, at 1:30 PM. Dr. Jetsun Chime was born into the Gangkar Emchi Family (Doctor Family) of Toe Dingri in Tibet. When she was 4yrs old, she was recognized as the reincarnation of venerable Dakar Jetsun kushab by Nyingma lama Trushik Rinpoche and began her Buddhist study from eight years old, after that she studied the Tibetan medical system of Sowa Rigpa in Mentsekhang (Tibetan medical college) at Dharamsala India. After her graduation in 1998, she was sent to India, Nepal, Brazil and officially served for five years. She migrated to the USA in 2004 and is currently serving Tibetans, Himalayan-region people and other foreigners in New York through the traditional Tibetan medical system. She was also invited by several Dharma centers and organizations in North America to give health talks. She also helps them to identify their illness through the practices of traditional methods of diagnosis. She has visited other countries to give health talks and introduce traditional Tibetan medical system of Sowa Rigpa through seminars and talks at different platforms. Click here for tickets!

Singing Bowl Meditation with Leslee Penny, Sunday, September 22, at 3 PM.  Experience the power of resonance and its meditational and healing capabilities. Leslee Penny is a certified mindful practitioner and certified in Singing Bowl Healing therapy.  She will transport you to a place of tranquility so your cells can renew in this bath of healing vibration, and you can learn about the traditions of Tibetan singing bowls. Click here for tickets!

The Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art was established in 1947 to preserve and share the art, culture and cultural traditions of Tibet and the Himalayas to a world audience. The holds a collection of artifacts, objects, thangkas, books, and photographs and exhibits the collection both on-site and in traveling exhibits. The Museum presents cultural programming, Himalayan dance, lectures, films, meditation and tai chi on a weekly basis. The Museum is open to the public Wednesday – Sunday from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM and by appointment for groups.

Public programming at the Museum is sponsored, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and Councilmembers Steve Matteo, Debi Rose, and Joseph Borelli. Additional programmatic support is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
