DSNY Holiday Calendar- NYC Holiday Garbage Schedule 2020

No Trash or Recycling Collection on Independence Day, Saturday, July 4, 2020

The New York City Department of Sanitation announced that in observance of Independence Day, there will be no trash or recycling collection on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

  • Residents who normally receive Saturday trash collection should place their material out at curbside after 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 5.
  • Residents who normally receive Saturday recycling collection should place their material out at curbside after 4 p.m. on Friday, July 10 for collection on Saturday, July 11.

Additionally, all Sanitation Department administrative offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of the holiday.

To help provide city residents with Sanitation-related service reminders, updates and special event schedules, the New York City Department of Sanitation has launched DSNY Info, its smart phone and tablet app. The app also includes tips to reduce, reuse and recycle, making it easier for New Yorkers send zero waste to landfills. The free app is available for both iOS and Android operating systems, and can be found by searching DSNY Info in the Apple App and Google Play stores.

2020 DSNY NYC Trash Holiday Calendar

DSNY residential trash and recycling collections

are suspended on the following dates in 2020:

New Year’s Day

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

• Monday, January 20 Martin Luther King Jr. Day

• Monday, February 17 Presidents’ Day

• Monday, May 25 Memorial Day

• Monday, September 7 Labor Day

• Monday, October 12 Columbus Day

• Wednesday, November 11 Veteran’s Day

• Friday, December 25 Christmas Day

Garbage and recycling should not be placed out for collection

on days when DSNY residential collection is suspended.
