Herb Smith: The Birds of Richmond County Opening Reception: Thursday, January 14, 2016 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

NYC Parks is pleased to present the exhibition: The Birds of Richmond County. Artist Herb Smith’s interest in painting wildlife, especially birds, goes back to his youth.  His ability and technique to capture the structural differences, colors and unique traits of birds by layering oil paint brings a satisfying depth to his work. Paying homage to masters of the Dutch Renaissance Age such as Van Eyck, Van Der Wyden, Rembrandt and Vermeer, his realistic approach creates an accurate quality that tantalizes the viewer’s perception in a way that is true to life.
