The Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex is pleased to announce the release of their 2016-2017 Track & Field schedule. Highlighted by an array of prestigious meets, the 2016-2017 season will bring some home town favorites along with exciting regional and national level competition.
The season will kick off on December 2nd with the Metropolitan College Season Opener followed by the Staten Island Relays on December 3rd. And on December 17th the complex will host the 63rd Annual Bishop Loughlin Games, the oldest and largest high school meet in the country.
“We are excited to announce the 2016-2017 Track & Field schedule for Ocean Breeze,” stated Park Administrator Lauren Primerano. “We are happy that we are once again able to provide a well-balanced schedule that will allow athletes from New York City and from across the country to participate in the Ocean Breeze experience.”
Highlighting the 2016-2017 season, the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex will play host to the 2017 New York State High School Championships and the USA Track & Field Hershey Youth Indoor Championships.
Other exciting high school meets coming to Staten Island include the Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival, the Ocean Breeze Freedom Games, the Ocean Breeze Invitational, the Staten Island Championships, the CHSAA Intersectional Championships, and the PSAL Invitational.
The college schedule will welcome elite level competitions including the Gotham Cup, the University of Albany Great Dane Classic, the Villanova Invitational, University of Pennsylvania Quadrangular, along with various conference championships including the Big East Conference, East Coast Athletic Conference, ECAC Division III Championships, and the Northeast Athletic Conference just to name a few.
Ocean Breeze will also be providing a dynamic youth series that will kick off on December 27th with the Youth Holiday Festival. The youth series will then welcome three additional meets leading up to the USA Track & Field New York Youth Championships.
In addition, the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex will welcome back free community programs such as the Ocean Breeze Elite Performance Clinics and the very popular Mile Mania Series. With over 125 events on the 2016-2017 Track & Field Schedule, it should be an exciting season at Ocean Breeze.
