Brooklyn and Queens Residents and Curbside Composting Participants

Curbside Composting is now available to ALL Brooklyn and Queens residents, as well as:

  • Bronx Community Board: 8
  • Manhattan Community Boards: 6, 7

Set out your leaf and yard waste with your other composting at the curb in a labeled bin with a secure lid or in your DSNY brown compost bin (extra leaf and yard waste can be put in a paper lawn and leaf bag or clear plastic bag).

Leaf Setout Guidelines

  • Use a paper lawn and leaf bag, a clear plastic bag, or a labeled bin with a secure lid.
  • Free paper lawn and leaf bags are available at neighborhood events (while supplies last ).
  • Leaf and yard waste generated by commercial landscapers CANNOT be set out for curbside collection. Landscapers MUST dispose of this waste at the permitted composting facility. Learn more about options from commercial landscapers.
