INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

THURSDAY, JULY 4 • 11:00AM-5:00PM

Celebrate our nation’s independence with old fashioned family fun! Visit Historic Richmond Town on July 4th for home-churned ice cream, a patriotic pinwheel parade, and an inspirational reading of the Declaration of Independence. Talk with costumed interpreters inside the historic Guyon-Lake-Tysen farmhouse and watch delicious pies bake in a real 19th century open-hearth kitchen! Visit a victorian General Store, and watch as historic trades people practice their craft. A wholesome good time in New York City’s most complete historic village!

ACTIVITIES:

Taste pie baked in an oven centuries old!
Make Victorian paper pinwheels and marching in the Pinwheel Parade.
Visit with Artisans of the Historic Trades and learn about the creation of household necessities using period tools.
View the displays of the Staten Island Model Railroaders.
Participate in a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Churn ice cream the old-fashioned way.
The Science Behind Fireworks, a demonstration by The Unexcelled Firework Company (1888-1944).
