LAST CHANCE: START THE NEW YEAR OFF WITH FREE MEMBERSHIP AT NYC PARKS RECREATION CENTERS

Free one-year recreation center memberships are available through December 2021

Vaccinations are required for members ages 13 and up

Is your 2022 New Year’s resolution to get active or exercise more? NYC Parks has you covered with free one-year memberships at recreation centers across the city! New Yorkers who sign up by December 31, 2021 will have free access to indoor sports courts, sports and educational programs, Shape Up NYC classes, media labs, fitness equipment, and much more. The membership term will last for one year from the registration date and grant access to facilities citywide.

“New year, new membership! We’re happy to offer New Yorkers the chance to get a head start on their resolutions with FREE one-year memberships to our recreation centers citywide,” said NYC Parks Commissioner Gabrielle Fialkoff. “Our centers offer something for everyone, from sports and arts programs to media education and fitness classes. We look forward to seeing new and returning members at recreation centers across the five boroughs as our city continues to safely recover.”

As a precaution due to COVID-19, several new policies have been implemented to keep patrons safe. Vaccinations are required for members ages 13 and up, and mask-wearing is required for all. In addition, equipment has been arranged to promote social distancing, and shared equipment will be cleaned frequently. Patrons will be asked to complete a health screening and temperature check before entering the facility.

Indoor pools have reopened at several locations. Hours of operation vary. Please visit NYC Parks’ recreation center page for more information.

Citywide memberships for adults (ages 25-61) are typical $150 annually. Memberships for veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities are $25 per year, and youth and young adults 24 and under are always eligible for free memberships.

NYC Parks’ recreation centers closed in March 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In June 2021, select centers reopened on a limited basis to patrons with active memberships as of March 2020. Centers across the five boroughs reopened to all New Yorkers — both previous and new members – in September 2021.

Throughout the pandemic, centers were repurposed in support of youth education and childcare services, testing, vaccinations, and mask and food distribution hubs. Select centers remain closed for public use to continue serving as vaccination and testing sites.
