We’ll be out on the lawn at Shinbone Alley kicking the night away with cool vibes and performances by DJ Mike Diexverse and music artist Honeychild Coleman. Experience Queer Van Kult: Revelation at the Newhouse Center, a liturgy of performance, installation, and music with a focus on queer artistry and multimedia work. Revelation invites visitors to be “unborn” from societal expectations and enter a world where queerness is a preexisting condition.

Additionally, explore the nighttime activation of LEIMAY’s Correspondences, a sculptural installation performance by multidisciplinary artist duo Ximena Garnica and Shige Moriya offering multiple entries points to engage with questions of being, interdependence, and coexistence. It will take place at the Wetlands at 8 PM.

Snug Harbor is proud to partner with FIGMENT, a free participatory arts event that celebrates creativity by challenging artists and participants to find new ways to create, share, and dream. For one weekend this summer, FIGMENT will transform Snug Harbor on Staten Island into a large-scale collaborative artwork – and then it’s gone.

Brooklyn based Invisiblegirl Recording artist Honeychild Coleman has worked with The Slits, Mad Professor, and Death Comet Crew (with Rammellzee), is in documentaries “Afropunk,” (USA), “Firelies” & “Getting My Name Up There” (AUSTRIA) and the MAKERS storytelling platform for trailblazing women (USA). Her music appears in Sundance awarded film “Pariah” (Focus Features). She currently fronts Blues-Punk outfit The 1865 (Mass Appeal Records), with Musician/Filmmaker Sacha Jenkins (Fresh Dressed / Of Mics and Men). Film and Television soundtracks include “Pariah” (Focus Features, USA),“Woke!” (USA, 2020) and Showtime’s “Everything’s Gonna Be All White” (USA, 2022). Coleman’s writing will appear in James Spooner and Chris Terry’s book BLACK PUNK NOW! (Softskull Press,2023).

Jahtiek Long (aka DJ Mikediexverse) is known for curating art exhibits and music showcases of emerging artists. Long is an artist, musician, writer, photographer, and curator whose subject matter centers on representation, connection, passion, and imagination. With an emphasis on freedom and expression, his bright lively, colorful, and bold art style landed him in Inked Magazine in October of 2016 as well as being acknowledged for his curating ability by the Staten Island community and Staten Island Advance for his events throughout 2016 and 2017. Long guest curated the 2018 exhibition, Shaolin: Into the 36 Chambers at the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art at Snug Harbor, and is the Events & Community Manager for P&T Knitwear.
