From the Horse’s Mouth, is a celebratory dance/theater production that has received standing ovations for its captivating story-telling and exceptional dancing, with rave reviews from critics around the United States. The performers, outstanding dancers, and choreographers of all ages and dance traditions tell personal stories from their lives, then perform movements of their own choosing, sometimes interacting with another dancer. The stories range from humorous to poignant revealing personal moments of loss, joy, frustration, and triumph. The Snug Harbor cast will feature local dancers including Sheila Rohan, formerly of the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Larissa Gonzalez-Schiano, Rosita Roldan, Helen Levin, and Jeannine Otis. This performance is curated by Gabri Christa.
“Snug Harbor has long been a home for the Staten Island dance community, including the Music Hall and the newly renovated Snug Harbor Dance Center. We are honored to have local legends such as Sheila Rohan, Janet Savage, and Sajda Musawwir Ladner take the stage alongside several generations of Staten Island dancers,” said Lynn Kelly, Snug Harbor’s President & CEO.
Since this show is cast and community specific, no two performances of From the Horse’s Mouth are the same. Those who are interested in dance and live performance will appreciate this rare production sharing the individual stories of those on the stage.
