Rooftop Films is proud to co-present a special screening of Ron Howard’s ‘80s classic Splash in Snug Harbor as part of their partnership with The Museum of Modern Art. “As we await the re-opening of The Museum of Modern Art in the fall, Rooftop Films is very excited to be working with MoMA to bring film and live performance events to special outdoor venues around New York City,” said Dan Nuxoll, Artistic Director of Rooftop Films. “Snug Harbor is an iconic city treasure, and we’re eager to return to their gorgeous grounds with a very fun summer program curated by the PopRally team.”

On July 27th, MoMA PopRally washes up on Staten Island’s north shore to celebrate the borough and the surrounding sea. Co-presented by Snug Harbor Cultural Center in addition to MoMA PopRally and Rooftop, the evening will culminate in a screening of Splash, the 1984 classic about a mermaid in Manhattan, starring Daryl Hannah and Tom Hanks. Before the film, patrons can enjoy trivia contests, prize giveaways, local food vendors, and a set by DJ Tom of Maker Park Radio.

Tickets are $10 (free for MoMA and Snug Harbor Cultural Center members), and include a pre-screening reception sponsored by Ketel One and Corona (21+), a DJ set, and admission to the film screening. Food by local Staten Island vendors will be available for purchase. Doors open at 7:00 PM, with the screening to follow at 9:00 PM. Aquatic costumes are highly encouraged, but not required. Rain date is July 28th.
