Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden is excited to
present With the Changes, a dance piece work-in-progress choreographed and performed by Janice
Rosario on Saturday, October 13.

With the Changes is part of Snug Harbor’s PASS (Performing Arts Salon Saturdays) series. Guests are advised to meet at the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art in Building C at the beginning of the performance, which will be outdoors and will visit several locations on Snug Harbor’s campus. The performance of With the changes begins at 7:00 PM sharp, preceded at 6:00 PM by a welcoming
reception and followed by a moderated Q+A session. Tickets are $10 and are available at https://passwiththechanges.bpt.me. Tickets can also be purchased at the door the day of the performance. With the changes is a full-length site-specific
contemporary dance piece by Janice Rosario. The project explores how the way we relate to each other and ourselves is dictated by the changing of the seasons. The aim is to unveil the human psyche through dance. As an additional experience on October 13, Rosario
will instruct a free hour-long dance class beginning at 5:00 PM in Snug Harbor’s Building G, Studio G201.

Rosario’s contemporary dance class is an inclusive laboratory that re-purposes classical technique towards developing one’s intuitive response to movement. Her warm-up draws on ballet floor barre to elongate deeper muscles, Pilates to strengthen
the pelvic connection, and Yoga based stretches to release tension while testing one’s balance. Dancers
should have at least 3 years of ballet or modern dance experience. Attendees are strongly encouraged
to register in advance at https://rosariodanceclass.bpt.me, as space is limited.
“Janice Rosario is an up and coming choreographer whose work is highly virtuosic and emotive,” said
Melissa West, Snug Harbor’s Vice President of Curation. “For her PASS residency at Snug Harbor, she is
building her first site-specific piece. It will activate outdoor spaces in a way that is fresh and exciting.
With the changes brings Snug Harbor’s campus to life.”

Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art in buildings C & G. The salon’s focus is on original works in
performing arts (music, dance, theater, and multi-media) in different stages of development. When
possible, work is developed in residence at Snug Harbor. Each PASS event has a reception and a post-performance
artist talk. Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden is located at 1000 Richmond
