July 19: Macra-mania

Learn the basics and techniques of macramé. This ancient form of textile making
utilizing knots is back in a big way. Arin Maya Lawrence will introduce guests to a
variety of traditional knot tying techniques to create a unique wall hanging.
This workshop is beginner-friendly and all materials will be provided.

July 26: Art of Cocktails
$35/$30 members

Greetings from Staten Island! Guests are invited to craft their own cocktails with the
expert guidance of SI’s Best Bartender, Danny Ippolito, owner of Bin 5. Explore
Ippolito’s carefully curated menu of artisan cocktails while Museum Archivist
Gabriella Leone presents photographs and stories showcasing Staten Island’s history
as a popular retreat destination during the turn of the 20th century. Each of the three
featured drinks will be fashioned out of fresh ingredients (all provided) and skillfully
crafted by Ippolito while guests observe and then make their own.

August 2: Radio Campfire – Wilderness

Radio Campfire is a live listening event featuring memorable radio documentaries,
soundscapes, and experimental sonic shorts. This program is part of a larger series
curated and hosted by a group of radio producers and audio artists in Southeast
Michigan. Radio Campfire is “like going to the movies, but for your ears.” Think relaxed,
magical, and intimate. Gather round as we listen to stories and sounds on the theme of
“wilderness” with audio artist and Radio Campfire founder Juliet Hinely.

August 9: Tie Dye 2.0 – Indigo Shibori

Learn the magic of indigo dye through Shibori techniques in this hands-on beginner’s
workshop with artist Janice Patrignani. Shibori, an ancient Japanese fiber art of bound
resist dyeing, uses techniques of stitching, binding, folding, clamping, and wrapping to
produce one of a kind permanent patterns on cloth. Indigo is a dye like no other and
its iconic blue color has deep cultural roots throughout the world. Learn how to make
an indigo vat and create beautiful designs using Shibori techniques on cotton fabric.
All equipment and materials provided.

August 16: Last Night of Camp with Joe Imburgio and Casey Jost

The only way to close out a memorable summer is with a talent show. Come
enjoy the last night of camp with your counselors (and Impractical Jokers
producers) Joe Imburgio and Casey Jost as they bring together a
variety of comedians showcasing the breadth of this art form.
