TOUCH-A-TRUCK FUNDRAISER TO BENEFIT CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS 10/8

Parents – here’s a chance to give your kids a low-cost, exciting hands-on adventure while also giving your support to Staten Island children with special needs. The Staten Island Mental Health Society (SIMHS) will be hosting a Touch-A-Truck fundraising event on October 8 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Vanderbilt parking lot in South Beach.

Admission is $5 and the event will go on rain or shine.

Vehicles on exhibit will include a fire truck, police car, school bus, tow truck, cement mixer,dump truck, Visitors will be invited to touch and explore the trucks and meet the people who protect, build and serve the community.

Admission includes entertainment, face painting, crafts and other activities for kids.

Refreshments will be available.

All proceeds will benefit the diverse programs and services provided by the SIMHS for Staten Island children, teens, young adults (and their families) who are challenged with emotional or  behavioral disorders, developmental/intellectual disabilities, neurological impairments, drug or alcohol dependencies, and/or economic disadvantages. Last year, the SIMHS’s 300 highly skilled professional and support staff, assisted by 500 volunteers, served more than 6,00 families throughout the borough.
