September 7	First day of school. Early dismissal for kindergarten. Partial day for pre-k
September 8	First full day for kindergarten. Partial day for pre-k
September 21-22	Rosh Hashanah: schools closed

October 9	Columbus Day observed: schools closed
November
November 7	Election Day: students do not attend school
November 23-24	Thanksgiving recess: schools closed
December
December 25-29	Winter recess: schools closed
January 2018
January 1	Winter recess cont’d.
January 2	School resumes
January 15	Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day: schools closed
January 26	Scoring Day for High Schools: high school students do not attend
January 29	Chancellor’s Conference Day in High Schools: high school students do not attend
January 30	Spring term begins for high school students

February 16	Lunar New Year
February 19-23	Midwinter recess: schools closed

March 30	Spring recess: schools closed

April 2-6	Spring recess: schools closed

District 75

Students in District 75 (D75) schools follow the same calendar as above with the following exceptions:

• September 7 is a full day for all D75 students, including kindergarten students
• January 26 and January 29: High school students in D75 schools do attend
• June 11: Students in D75 schools do not attend school
• June 22: High school students in D75 schools do attend

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-teacher conference dates are citywide however, some schools may hold their conferences on alternative dates. In addition to the dates below, most schools will hold an evening conference for families in September and May. Please check with your school for specific schedules.

Check with your school about test dates for your child and what Regents days your high school may not hold classes. Get information about all the tests administered in New York City schools.
