Meet the Musicians
An Evening of Live Jazz brings together a quartet of extraordinary talents, each with their own distinct style and history in the jazz world:
- Bim Strasberg (Bassist): A West Coast native, Bim Strasberg began his career in jazz at UC San Diego, where he co-founded the PowerHouse Quintet. His impeccable bass playing has been praised by jazz luminaries like Brian Lynch, who lauded his “stalwart bass playing” and compositions such as “Incanto” and “Rockermotion.” Bim later joined the New York Hard Bop Quintet, performing alongside well-known musicians such as Joe Magnarelli and Jerry Weldon.
- Larry Luger (Guitarist and Vocalist): Larry’s musical journey started in the Bronx, where he began performing while still in high school. His career includes collaborations with jazz greats like Lou Donaldson and Lionel Hampton, and an acoustic performance at Carnegie Hall recreating the music of James Reese Europe. Larry’s smooth guitar and vocal stylings are sure to captivate the audience.
- Lawrence “Larry” Marshall (Singer and Actor): Known for his roles on Broadway and in films, Lawrence Marshall brings a theatrical flair to the stage. He has earned Tony and Drama Desk nominations for his portrayal of Sportin’ Life in Porgy and Bess and is celebrated for his roles in The Cotton Club and Jesus Christ Superstar. His versatile voice and charismatic presence promise an unforgettable performance.
- Jeannine Otis (Vocalist): Hailing from Detroit, Jeannine Otis has been a powerful voice in jazz and beyond for over four decades.
