No Trash, Curbside Composting, or Recycling Collection on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24, 2022
DSNY Holiday Calendar- NYC Garbage Schedule 2022. The New York City Department of Sanitation announced that in observance of Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24, 2022, there will be NO trash, curbside composting or recycling collection on the holiday.
- Residents who normally receive Thursday trash or curbside composting collection may place their material at the curb between 4 p.m. and midnight Thursday evening, for collection beginning Friday. However, residents should expect collection delays, as is common after holidays. We appreciate your patience as we work to collect the backlog of material.
- Residents who normally receive Thursday recycling collection should hold their materials and place their items out curbside between 4 p.m. and midnight on Wednesday, November 30 for pickup on Thursday, December 1.

The Department of Sanitation (DSNY) keeps New York City healthy, safe and clean by collecting, recycling and disposing of waste, cleaning streets and vacant lots, and clearing snow and ice. The Department operates 59 district garages and manages a fleet of more than 2,000 rear-loading collection trucks, 450 mechanical brooms, and 705 salt spreaders. The Department clears litter, snow, and ice from approximately 6,500 miles of City streets and removes debris from vacant lots as well as abandoned vehicles from City streets.
