Fall Leaf Collection
Free fall leaf collection is available across the city each November and December.
It’s easy to participate. Place leaf and yard waste in paper lawn and leaf bags
or in an open, unlined container. Set it out at the curb at 4pm the night before your collection day.

Queens Residents and Curbside Composting Participants
Set out your leaf and yard waste with your other composting at the curb in a labeled bin with a secure lid or in your DSNY brown compost bin (extra leaf and yard waste can be put in a bag separate from trash).

Curbside Composting is now available to ALL Queens residents, as well as:
- Bronx Community Board: 8
- Brooklyn Community Boards: 1, 2, 6, 7
- Manhattan Community Boards: 6, 7
Residents in all other Community Boards do not receive seasonal leaf collection. Find other composting options available.
Leaf Setout Guidelines
- Use a paper lawn & leaf bag or an unlined bin.
- Free paper lawn and leaf bags are available at neighborhood events (while supplies last ).
- Leaves, grass, branches, and yard clippings generated by commercial landscapers CANNOT be set out for curbside collection. Landscapers MUST dispose of this waste at permitted composting facility. Learn more about options from commercial landscapers.
