Earth Day is Friday, April 22, 2016, and North Shore Waterfront Conservancy’s Earth Day Project is called “Bag It Where You Stand, Bag It Wherever You Go!” A Staten Island-wide litter clean up.
Earth Day needs to be a lot more personal for each of us, so that we are truly invested in keeping our Island, neighborhoods and waterways clean.
On Earth Day, the North Shore Waterforont Conservancy is asking that Staten Islanders pocket 2 unused garbage bags and 2 unused recycling bags and every where that you go and you spot litter you bag it, until you fill up your bags disposing of it at your final destination. They are also asking that you take a selfie of you and your recycling and garbage booty and post it on your social media page.
If in your travels you pick up an enormous amount at a particular location call 311 and tell them you just did a clean up and where Sanitation can find the garbage and recycling bags by giving the street intersection. Remember to take your selfie, also remember to be safe and be responsible.
They are also asking that all schools, businesses and city, state agencies and authorities on Staten Island participate too.
