Emergency Planning for Nonprofits: Join the Human Services Council of NY for a FREE two-day training to help you make a plan!
Is your nonprofit ready to respond to a disaster? Have you been meaning to develop an emergency plan for your organization? Now is the time!
Tuesday, April 7, 9:00AM to 1:00PM AND Monday, April 20, 9:00AM to 1:00PM
PLEASE NOTE: participants MUST attend both sessions.
As part of its ongoing work helping service providers be ready to deal with emergencies that impact them or their clients, Human Services Council offers hands-on training for senior managers on how to produce a concise and effective emergency plan. The training will be conducted over two half-day sessions designed to give participants concrete help in completing an emergency plan template created by HSC. It is important that you RSVP for both sessions. There will be an opportunity to learn about how disaster planning is done and to start writing the plan for one’s own organization with guidance from disaster-planning professionals.
The human services sector plays a crucial role after major disasters, and experience has shown us that organizations need to plan for the unexpected. Organizational readiness is critical to coping with disaster, continuing operations, and effectively helping clients. Workshop Features and Takeaways:
• The introduction of a template for creating organization-specific plans (commonly known as COOPs, or Continuity of Operations Plans) for resuming operations after disasters
• Guidance to begin developing an emergency plan and how to continue and complete the document over the weeks following the workshop
• Opportunity to collaborate and network with nonprofit colleagues
Relevant for senior managers at human services organizations who would play a primary role in reacting to disasters and senior managers at nonprofit membership associations interested in disaster readiness for their constituents. A light breakfast will be served.
