Join us during school break week for a variety of nature inspired programs. Beginning with our “Year of the Dog” Chinese New Year celebration on Sunday, February 18 (well behaved pups are welcome!), our week-long offerings for children and families include programs on horses, birding/bird feeders, paper-crafting, trail maintenance, glaciers, forest walks, the human body, trail running and frog watching! With the exception of our trail race, these programs are free.

Families are invited to join the Greenbelt educators for an evening of interactive activities and experiments exploring this month’s topic – the human body.  Take a closer look at fingerprints, discover how to see your pulse, and measure your reaction times.  This is a free event, and souvenirs are provided for all participants.  Thank you to Con Edison for generously funding this series.  For questions, please call 718-351-3450.

Cold Feat Trail Race

This winter classic begins on the rolling fairways and takes you off into the rustic Greenbelt trails.  Choose the 10K or new 5K course. High quality race shirts, wooden medals for our overall and age group finishers, and refreshments round out the morning. Your support of this event helps the nonprofit Greenbelt Conservancy thrive.

Get acclimated with the trails and join us for free trail  running clinics on Saturdays, February 3, 10 & 17.

 
Frog Watch USA Training

Calling all Citizen Scientists! Discover how you can help frogs and toads in our environment by identifying and monitoring their unique vocal skills.  This free training kicks off the Greenbelt’s 2018 monitoring season for ages 8 and above.  Call the Greenbelt educators at 718-351-3450 or email: nature center@sigreenbelt.org to register.
