They provide the use of sit-on-top kayaks, life-jackets and paddles. We offer paddling tips and launch/land assistance. Experienced kayakers are in the water for further assistance.

Once a participant signs a waiver (required) and is fitted with a life jacket they may paddle out into an embayment area marked by buoys.

Depending on attendance, there may be a wait for a boat to become available. We limit your try-out to 15 minutes; it is first-come-first-served but paddlers are allowed to get back in line for another spin.

To participate Wear shoes and clothes that can get wet.

Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and their parent must sign our waiver.

The volunteers, empower people to experience our parks, waterways and landscape from the unique perspective of a kayak. Staten Island kayaking is a resource and wants to nurture a skilled, active kayaking community centered in a public boathouse to enhance recreational use of our waterways and appreciation for our waters’ cleanliness, safety and accessibility.
