Staten Island New York City Living is your resource of what's good, hip, hot, and fun on Staten Island.
Kayak Staten Island is an all-volunteer organization. We provide free kayaking for the public at the shoreline on Staten Island.
PROGRAMKayak Staten Island provides the use of sit-on-top kayaks, life-jackets and paddles. They offer paddling tips and launch/land assistance. Experienced kayakers are in the water for further assistance. Once a participant signs a waiver (required) and is fitted with a life jacket they may paddle out into an embayment area marked by buoys. Depending on attendance, there may be a wait for a boat to become available. We limit your try-out to 15 minutes; it is first-come-first-served but paddlers are allowed to get back in line for another spin. To participate Wear shoes and clothes that can get wet. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and their parent must sign our waiver. Waiver forms are available here: High winds or lightning cancel the event. |
