“Summers on Staten Island” August 9 Staten Island Museum
The 3rd installment of “Neighborhood Portrait Series,” through borough-centric performances and a community story circle, “Summers on Staten Island” will celebrate Staten Island and the many reasons to take pride in being a Staten Islander. This participatory event invites you to get to know neighbors by sharing stories in an intimate museum environment.
Enjoy true stories about Staten Island summers from Dolores Morris, Nanci Richards and Dedunu Suraweera, and a poetic ode to SI from Eric Alter. Their stories and spoken word will challenge perceptions of Staten Island and explore the complicated sense of pride we feel for the underdog of the boroughs.
After the performances, share your own SI stories, memories, and anecdotes in our Story Circle!
