PRESENTS…
“VOICES OF HOPE: A HURRICANE BENEFIT CONCERT”
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 TH at 8:00 p.m.
THE MUSIC HALL AT SNUG HARBOR CULTURAL CENTER
1000 RICHMOND TERRACE, STATEN ISLAND, NY 10301
Almost five years ago, Super Storm Sandy ripped through the homes and lives of
thousands living in the shore areas of Staten Island and other parts of New York City. Yellow Boots, a
powerhouse grassroots organization and recognized 501c3, was born of the devastation in Staten Island
and saw hundreds of families through their long-term recovery. Yellow Boots continues to provide
assistance, worldwide, to areas experiencing the perils of natural disasters.
The 2017 hurricane season has been unusually active and has served areas of the U.S. Gulf Coast,
Puerto Rico, and many of the Islands with more than their fair share of devastation. Yellow Boots is
determined to assist by providing volunteers on the ground, and satisfying the immediate and long-term
needs of recovery workers as well as those affected.
In order to fund this widespread mission, Spotlight Theatre presents “Voices of Hope” to help raise funds
which will allow Yellow Boots to purchase necessary tools and supplies. A wave of contemporary
Broadway songs will be performed by a cast of musical theatre professionals. Songs from some of your
favorite musicals like Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Les Miserables, Waitress, and more, will fill the air.
Special Guests are Curtis High School Performing Arts Group and Spotlight Children’s Theatre Company.
Tickets are $25 and all proceeds will go to those needing assistance in the many areas directly hit. Mary
Aloia, Co-Founder of Spotlight Theatre states, “Spotlight Theatre is thrilled to bring such outstanding
talent to the Music Hall stage! We hope to fill every seat for this important and worthwhile cause.” After
purchasing tickets, please send your Order Confirmation number to info@yellowboots.org to receive a
special gift from Yellow Boots.
Yellow Boots has coordinated thousands of external volunteers and volunteer groups from all over the
country since Sandy hit in October, 2012. “Our hope is to remain instrumental to all communities needing
assistance after experiencing a natural disaster, as we learned firsthand what the needs are,” says Ross
Decker, Co-Founding Board Member of Yellow Boots. He continues, “as such, Yellow Boots becomes a
constant and reliable source of disaster relief work in affected communities here in the United States, and
around the world.” This essential work will continue only through regular and effective fundraising. It is our
hope that people will look at this Concert as an opportunity to enjoy a night out, and help fund critical
recovery and relief work at the same time.
Yellow Boots would like to extend sincere thanks to: The Music Hall at Snug Harbor Cultural Center,
Curtis High School Performing Arts Group, Spotlight Theatre, and the Spotlight Children’s Theatre
Company. Last, but not least, we’d like to thank all our volunteers and those who consistently support the
important work we do.
